Ogan Komering Ulu Regency


Ogan Komering Ulu in South Sumatra is one of regencies that split off into East Ogan Komering Ulu and South Ogan Komering Ulu. OKU is covered an area of 10,408 km² with a population of around 1,000,000 people.

The name of Ogan Komering Ulu is taken from the name of two great rivers that cross and flows throughout the district of OKU, which is Ogan river and Komering River.

The most popular destination in this region is taken from Harimau Cave and Putri Cave. Both caves are located in Padangbindu village, about 35 kilometers from Baturaja. At these cave, Since 2008 to mid-2013 the archaelogists have found 72 skeletons of Mongoloid race with prediction 3,000 years of age and the excavation is still running. Moreover, ini Harimau Cave, the archeologists predicted that it has been used since 15 centuries ago and at least there are 3 different cultures have founded with the last culture is 3,500 years.
