Karangagung Tengah site region is located in Sungai Lalan district, Musi Banyuasin regency, known as the settlement site of the fourth century AD, before the emerging of Srivijaya in Sumatra. The site is located in the watershed of Banyuasin that disembogue in Bangka straits. Lalan river which is a branch of Banyuasin river, is the main access to the location of that ancient settlement.
The types of archaeological relics found are poles wooden houses, the boat steering, pottery containers, pelandas (anvil), bricks, beads, earrings, bracelets glass, grindstones, bones, teeth, and coconut shell. Residents around had find other relics such as stone bracelet, gold rings, gold earrings and pendants bronze.
Based on artifacts left behind, Karangagung community was relied on international trade. The remnants poles of wooden house are found, means that there were many wooden houses built along the old river connected Lalan river and Sembilang river.
