The attraction of Kemaro Island

Kemaro Island is one of the popular tourist destinations in Palembang city which is located in the small delta of the Musi River, about 6 km to the downstream of the Ampera Bridge. Given the name Kemaro means dry because the island is always dry. The attraction of Kemaro is the 9-storey Pagoda that rises in the middle of the island. In addition to the pagoda, there is the Kemaro Island Water Village and the Hok Tjing Rio Temple which were built since 1962. In front of the temple there are the tombs of Tan Bun An (Pangeran) and Siti Fatimah (Putri) side by side. It was their love story that became the legend of the formation of this island.
