For example the color red means braveness and golden yellow means wealth and greatness. Formotifs such as Bungo Cino are usually used by women of chinese descent, as for Bungo Pacis for women of Arab and Indian descent.
There are approximately 35 Palembang songket motifs that can be grouped based on the variety of its decoration. Namely lepus, flower motifs and mixed motifs. The method of Songket is made by the sungkit method in which the weaving thread is attached and pinched to enter the gold thread. The making process itself would take a long time, usually about 1 month for each songket. Traditionally songkets are made by young girls who are to be wed or middle aged mothers while waiting for prayer time.
